Welcome to a kingdom embraced by mountains where chandeliers are made of human bones, carp  swim in bathtubs and babies crawl up towers. At Easter, people are whipped , while in December children read poetry to devils

but everyone laughs all year-round. The pubs are full of drowned  men that sit alongside beer made entirely of foam. With golden hands, its people crafted clocks that

measure the stars. A country just 33 years young yet filled with stories that last millennia. Here creativity isn't just an idea, it's woven into every thread of life. Welcome to the Creative Board. Welcome to planet Czechia.

Drowned men

Translated from the word “Utopenec,” this classic dish is found in every proper Czech pub: a short, soft sausage pickled in vinegar with onions. Served cold, just as you’d expect from a drowned man—only it smells much better.

Drowned men

Beer or milk

It’s perfectly normal for a grown man to slam his hand on the table in a pub and order milk (“Mlíko” in Czech). He’s still getting beer, anyway! In Czechia, there’s a special pouring technique where only a thick, white, creamy foam ends up in the glass. Only a few pubs serving Pilsner Urquell can pull it off, along with other interesting pouring styles like Šnyt and more.

Restaurant Kuchyn

Restaurant Kuchyn

Yes, this is traditional Czech cuisine, and yes, it really is located right under the castle. The food here is mostly a delightful caloric overload (it was originally meant for hard labourers, not the CEO of an advertising company), but luckily every path from this place goes downhill, so you can simply roll your way home. Definitely try the schnitzel, svíčková, or koprovka.

Carp in bathtub

If you see a carp swimming in someone’s bathtub, you can be almost sure it’s Christmas time. The laid-back fish from the local ponds makes its way on its final voyage through Czech bathtubs, before ending up on the Christmas plate.

Masopust

Masopust

Czechs also love “Masopust” (meat-fast), perhaps because it’s exactly the opposite of what the name suggests. In funny masks, crowds march through their towns, singing and eating more meat than they do all year round.

Easter

Easter

Just men running around, gently whipping girls and women to keep them healthy. Instead of being formally prosecuted, they are rewarded with painted eggs made by the women themselves. Totally normal here.

Enjoy burgers and meat specialties from a local butcher at a wine bar like no other in Prague. Pair the Wagyu burgers, veal salsiccia and veal frankfurters with wines from Czechia, Austria, France and beyond.

Human bone chandeliers

Like chandeliers? How about one made entirely of human bones? Welcome to the Sedlec Ossuary near Kutná Hora, Czech Republic. In the 19th century, František Rint turned thousands of skeletons into a giant chandelier and other bone décor. Eco-friendly, upcycled furniture—long before IKEA.

Clocks that measure the stars

Clocks that measure the stars

“Introducing the all-new Prague Orloj: timeless design. Tracks the Sun, Moon, and zodiac signs. Apostles pop up every hour, like notifications. Eco-friendly, zero batteries, 100% medieval cool.” This is probably how the astronomical clock, the “Orloj,” was first unveiled to the public in the 14th century.

Zizkov TV Tower

Zizkov TV Tower

Have you ever seen babies climbing a 216-meter-tall tower? In Prague, totally normal. The Žižkov TV Tower, originally built in the 1980s to broadcast television signals, now features crawling baby sculptures by artist David Černý. It has become a beloved quirky landmark and a symbol of Prague’s modern, playful approach to architecture.

Golden hands

Golden hands

The phrase “golden hands” was coined centuries ago to describe the exceptional skill of Czechs. But let’s be honest—we came up with it ourselves, so it’s basically a review of our own business. Today, we’d probably just call it a fake review.

Mountains – outdoor nation

Mountains – outdoor nation

We Czechs are a nation surrounded by mountains. Not only do we love hiking in them, but we also bring them back to the cities—hence why you see folks strolling around in pants rated for 10,000 mm of water, buying beer in the local pub. Who knows, maybe one day some Bad Bunny turns it into a fashion trend.

Humor

Humor

According to several independent and reputable sources (like ChatGPT), the Czech Republic is the funniest country in the world. There are basically two possible explanations: either Czech humor is just that good… or everyone else, like the Germans, simply has weaker humor.

33 years old

33 years old

In 1989, students launched the Velvet Revolution against Big Brother—back when it wasn’t a TV show but an actual depressing reality. Keys jingled, democracy arrived. And a few years later in 1993, Czechs and Slovaks pulled off the most peaceful political “divorce” ever: zero tanks, zero drama. That’s how the Czech Republic was born.

Kingdom of Bohemia

Kingdom of Bohemia

For about 700 years, the Kingdom of Bohemia did all the usual medieval stuff: built castles and bridges, founded universities, fought battles, roasted witches, and occasionally threw Catholics out of windows. The fun ended with the First World War, after which Czechoslovakia was born.

Stories that last millennia

Stories that last millennia

Forefather Čech—the legendary founder of the Czech nation—climbed Mount Říp, looked around, and said, “This looks good, we’ll stay here.” As the first Czech “urban planner,” he set a dangerous precedent: to this day, Czechs still build houses without permits, hoping they’ll be legalized later.
